The National Student Exchange is a study away opportunity that allows University of Utah students to take new courses, see new places, make new friends, and enroll in academic options that may not be available at the U. After students have participated in the LEAP Program their first year, they can return as role models and liaisons to entering first-year students. They work closely with the students in the classes as well as with the professor/mentor to gain leadership skills.

LEAP is a year-long learning community that enables new students to transition more confidently to college and to play an active role in their own education. High School Outreach Volunteers

John R. Park Debate Society

Students work with local high schools to provide instruction, coaching, and other support for students participating in high school forensics (speech debate). Students gain hands on experience working in a classroom, facilitating team goals, and responding to the changing needs of the schools with which they work.

Students work with faculty guidance to plan and host a public debate/dialogue about an issue of local, statewide, and/or national political, social, or cultural importance. Students participate in a unique program that combines workshops, student mentoring, selected readings and facilitated discussions to develop and reflect on leadership practices in the real world.
